Description
Delightful Turkish dumplings, known as manti, filled with seasoned meat and topped with garlicky yogurt and aromatic spiced oil.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Water as needed (approximately 1/4 cup)
- 1 cup minced halal ground lamb or beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup plain yogurt (preferably Greek)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes or dried mint
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground sumac (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the egg.
- Gradually mix in enough water to form a soft dough. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook onion until translucent.
- Combine the cooked onions, minced meat, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
- Divide the dough into four pieces. Roll one piece to about 1/8 inch thickness and cut into 2-inch squares.
- Place a teaspoon of meat filling in the center of each square, fold diagonally, and press edges to seal.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook dumplings in batches for 5-7 minutes until they float.
- Mix yogurt, garlic, and salt in a bowl for the sauce.
- In a small pan, heat olive oil and add red pepper flakes, coriander, and sumac, stirring until fragrant.
- Serve the dumplings with the yogurt sauce and spiced oil drizzled on top.

Ensure to knead the dough well for the best texture. Customize your filling based on preference.
