Description

A silky and sumptuous sauce that adds warmth and richness to your turkey and mashed potatoes, easy to prepare with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup turkey drippings
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken or turkey broth (warmed)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Collect the flavorful drippings from your roasted turkey, letting fat rise to the top. Pour off excess fat from the drippings if necessary, reserving about a quarter cup for later use.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, then whisk in an equal amount of flour to create a roux. Keep whisking until the mixture is golden brown and aromatic.
  3. Gradually add the warmed chicken or turkey broth, whisking continuously until smooth.
  4. Stir in the reserved turkey drippings and whisk until combined. Allow to simmer for about five minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm over turkey or alongside side dishes.

Notes

This gravy is versatile and can be served over various dishes like mashed potatoes or stuffing.
