Description

A playful twist on classic spaghetti and meatballs, featuring monster meatballs with gooey cheese eyes and spooky presentation perfect for Halloween.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound halal ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for monster eyes)
  • 12 oz spaghetti or preferred pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • Olive oil for drizzling
  • Black olives (sliced) for eyes
  • Fresh parsley (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Form mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  3. Press a cube of mozzarella cheese into the center of each meatball before closing it up completely.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
  6. In a saucepan, heat marinara sauce over medium heat until warmed through.
  7. Serve a generous helping of spaghetti on each plate.
  8. Place two to three baked monster meatballs on top of the pasta.
  9. Use sliced black olives to create eyes on each meatball and drizzle with olive oil.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the meatballs ahead of time and refrigerate them. Consider whole wheat pasta for added nutrition.
