Description

A delicious fusion of chai spices and apple crisp, perfect for cozying up on a chilly day.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 23 chai tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose chai)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • 3 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • ½ cup brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for apple crisp topping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup melted coconut oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Boil the water in a small saucepan.
  2. Remove from heat, add chai tea bags, and let steep for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags, stir in milk and honey or maple syrup.
  4. Add dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Peel, core, and slice apples into thin wedges, toss with cinnamon.
  7. In a bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  8. Mix melted coconut oil or butter into the oat mixture until crumbly.
  9. In an oven-safe dish, layer the apple mixture, then cover with oat topping.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes until topping is golden and apples are tender.
  11. Pour chai over baked apple crisp or serve separately. Enjoy!
