Description

A comforting dish with rich flavors of caramelized onions, lean beef, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
  • 4 sturdy buns

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Gather your ingredients. Chop the onions and measure out your beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and cheese.
  2. Sauté the Onions: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until deep golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  3. Cook the Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, draining excess grease.
  4. Simmer with Flavor: Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Add the Cheese: Sprinkle cheese on top of the beef mixture, cover the skillet, and cook for 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Scoop the cheesy mixture onto buns and serve immediately.

Notes

Great for meal prep; leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge or frozen for 3 months.
