- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, finely chopped (drained)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Gradually mix in the flour and salt until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and vanilla extract gently.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on ungreased baking sheets.
- Chill for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
- Allow cooling on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider using low-sugar granulated sugar, coconut oil, or whole wheat flour.
