Description

Delightful finger food featuring rich caramelized onions in a flaky puff pastry, topped with creamy cheese and aromatic thyme.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 large yellow onions (sliced)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 4 oz goat cheese or cream cheese (crumbled)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 4-inch squares.
  3. Arrange the pastry squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  5. Add the sliced onions and cook until soft and golden brown, about 25 minutes.
  6. Stir in thyme and balsamic vinegar in the last 5 minutes of cooking; season with salt and pepper.
  7. Spoon the caramelized onion mixture onto each pastry square and top with crumbled cheese.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
