Description

Golden, crunchy catfish nuggets cooked in an air fryer for a healthier, delicious seafood dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound catfish fillets, cut into bite-sized nuggets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Catfish: Rinse and dry the catfish fillets, then cut into nugget-sized pieces.
  2. Set Up the Breading Station: Combine the flour with half the spices in one bowl, whisk eggs and milk in another, and mix cornmeal with remaining spices in a third bowl.
  3. Bread the Catfish Nuggets: Dredge each piece in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat in cornmeal. Repeat for all nuggets.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Air Fry the Nuggets: Spray the air fryer basket, lay nuggets without overcrowding, spray lightly with oil, and cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for crispy texture. Use parchment paper if the basket tends to stick.
