- 8 oz rigatoni pasta
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook rigatoni in salted water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- Drain and set aside the rigatoni.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, cooking until browned, approximately 6-8 minutes.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix rigatoni with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, then combine with the beef and sauce mixture.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with remaining cheeses, and bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider using ground turkey or chicken, whole-wheat pasta, and low-fat cheese.
